Director, Business, Hyperscale Infrastructure, Asia Pacific (based in Hong Kong)

The role of Director, Hyperscaler Infrastructure, is a commercial function where the individual will engage with customers in defining requirements and opportunities and engage with the broader business to define plans to meet those requirements and then coordinate execution.
 
Most hyperscaler customers are US-based, and the Director/Senior Director will be responsible for building relationships with the AP divisions of those customers and liaising with the global relationship managers based in the US.
 
In addition the Director role for Hyperscaler Infrastructure will be responsible for building relationships with AP based strategic customers such as Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent and others. For hyperscalers located in AP, the Director will take the lead on opportunities. In both cases, opportunities will be developed in coordination with the relevant GAM sales teams and Strategic Alliance GMs across various countries in AP.
 
As projects are defined and launched in AP, the Director will take responsibility for overseeing the execution to ensure that the project achieves objectives and fulfills commitments to the relevant customer. As part of the global Hyperscaler Infrastructure Team, the post will also support the team’s efforts to define design and operations that are optimal for this set of customer requirements.
 
Priorities for the role are: 
  • Engage with customers in AP and the US to define, negotiate, and close new projects
  • Work with Corporate Development/Real Estate to define commercially viable projects that meet customer requirements
  • Coordinate the execution and delivery of hyperscaler projects in AP
  • Work with internal functions (Operations, Customer Care, Finance) to adapt existing business practices to hyperscaler customer requirements
  • Support global team activities to develop nontraditional financing schemes and other programs

 



Requirements

Based in Hong Kong

  • Strong understanding of hyperscaler customer requirements
  • Excellent negotiation skills and either senior sales or BD experience
  • Ability to manage commercial tradeoffs on large projects
  • Senior presence with global customers
  • Technical proficiency to help shape new Hyperscale and hybrid sites for customer deployments
  • Financial proficiency and business acumen to review longer term returns and evaluate risk / reward tradeoffs in Ts&Cs negotiations with customers
